Briton Anthony Joshua made the heavyweight world's most powerful statement yet with a devastating second-round knockout win over Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.
Joshua, 34, defeated the UFC champion in the first and early second rounds.
A stunned Ngannou stood up in Riyadh and was left stunned in an explosive and horrifying moment when the referee stopped the fight moments later.
The 37-year-old apparently lost consciousness before hitting the canvas and required medical treatment.
“I'm going to get back in the cage and fight again when I get taken out,” Joshua said as WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury watched from ringside.
Fury had a tough job against Ngannou in October, falling to the debutant just before scoring points.
“When I saw the fight with Tyson Fury, I thought, 'I want this.' [Ngannou] He is a great champion and this does nothing to diminish his ability,” Joshua said.
“I told him not to quit boxing. He's had two fights in a row and he's fighting his best.”
It was two-time world champion Joshua's fourth win in 11 months and keeps his ambitions of reclaiming the world title alive.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has called on Joshua, who he has promoted throughout his professional heavyweight career, to face the winner of Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
The two will fight for the undisputed heavyweight world championship in May and are scheduled to have a rematch later this year.
Joshua added: “I don't think I'll be fighting in five years.” “Eddie Hearn and my team will shape my future.”
