Residents of Brooklyn in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, are confident that voting for the African People's Congress (APC) will change their lives.
The residents teeth Those at the party’s final rally said the APC would provide much-needed basic services such as; As Water and road infrastructure.
The Better Residents Association (BRA) and APC members have come together and their main goal isImprove service delivery.
For these residents, the merger of APC and BRA came at just the right time. They believe that there will be changes in their area after the election.
“I want change, better service provision, roads, water, especially here in Ward 15, where we suffer from water scarcity. If residents have access to clean water, it will be much better than drinking with cows and goats.”
“We are confident that if APC comes to power, it will bring about change in the lives of our people.”
“I am voting for APC because it is the only party in South Africa that is not corrupt so I can't say much. We all know our president, he was in Scopa for years and he came out without any money laundering so I will be voting for APC.”
BRA chairman Delta Mokoena said: He said combining the two organizations would benefit residents.
“It's been a long time. Thirty years ago we nominated our representatives to the current political parties but nothing has come of it. We have no services. If you look around the region, especially in Mpumalanga, service delivery in Mpumalanga is all about crime and corruption. So we said let's join the APC so that we can have one voice nationally, provincially and locally.”
APC leader Themba Godi says unity will help transform the lives of residents.
“This is not our first agreement. We have an agreement with another party in Gauteng. As Pan-Africanists, one of our goals is to unite with the people because if we unite we can change the situation for the people of Bushbuckridge.”
This will be the APC's fourth time contesting national and state elections.
