The Alliance for African Renaissance (ARA) party said it expects to get one million votes in the upcoming general election.
ARA President Jerome Schwartz says the party will work nationally and provincially to change the lives of South Africans.
Speaking at the party's rally at the Norman Dubbel Hall in Heidedal, Free State, Dr. Schwartz urged residents to vote for his party, saying their cause was not influenced by outside forces.
“If there are jobs but you don’t want to work, you actually have to be incarcerated, and when you’re in prison, you have to take care of your family while you’re incarcerated. Because the problem is that people want jobs, but others are not serious about jobs. A lot of people are looking for jobs, but those who are looking for jobs don’t have access to jobs. … If we can deal with jobs, we can deal with crime. More people working means less crime.”
The party's supporters say they are hopeful that the Alliance for African Recovery will bring about change. Some of them said things like this.
“I think it’s best to vote for ARA because if you look at our government at the moment, it’s not doing anything for our young people. I go and I look at the roads, I look at the toilets, I look at the water supply. So I think it's the right time to make a change. I know it's a risk, but it's better. Now is the time to make a living,” says one supporter.
Another said, “The most important thing for our people and communities is to vote for ARA. ARA will bring development within the community. Where I am staying there is no infrastructure. What It has been many years since I stayed in Mafora – Caleb Moshabi. There is no infrastructure in Mafora.”
He said his party is independent and self-funded.
Swartz says he can't wait any longer to solve the nation's problems. The ARA leader says the country needs fundamental change and that the ARA has a strong and determined leader.
