Dennis, 33, who was released on bail, made no excuse when he appeared in Adelaide Magistrates' Court, according to court documents.
A judge postponed Dennis' case until Aug. 6 to allow prosecutors to prepare briefs and decide what charges to file, according to court documents.
Australian media said prosecutors had asked for time to complete a reconstruction of the incident.

After his wife's death, police charged Dennis with “causing death by dangerous driving” and “endangering life by careless driving.”
Mr Hoskins, 32 at the time of his death, was part of the Australian team that won the team pursuit at the 2015 World Track Cycling Championships in France.
Rohan Dennis won the 2018 and 2019 World Time Trials and a stage win at the Tour de France in 2015.
