Bafana Bafana showed slight improvement in the latest FIFA rankings.
The team moved up eight places in the world rankings to 58th place and 10th place in Africa.

This progress was due to the team's performance at the African Cup of Nations final in Ivory Coast, where they won a bronze medal.

Bafana Bafana move to 58th place in latest FIFA rankings
Bafana Bafana defeated Africa's top team Morocco in the last 16, ahead of Tunisia, Nigeria, Cape Verde and the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, despite winning two games, FIFA recorded the wins against Cape Verde and the Democratic Republic of Congo as draws.

This is Bafana Bafana's highest world ranking since 2015, when they achieved their highest ranking of 52nd place.
The team will play Andorra and Algeria in their next matches and will aim to improve their ranking.

Bafana entered the tournament ranked 66th, but not many gave them a chance of making it to the last four. The 1996 Afcon winners started the tournament with a 2-0 loss against Mali, but bounced back quickly and defeated Namibia 4-0 in their next match.

Their best performance came in the round of 16 against Morocco, which the Blues won 2-0. The team lost in the semi-finals with a 4-2 penalty loss to Nigeria, but still performed well enough to defeat the Democratic Republic of the Congo and finish in third place.
