If you look closely at the data on job seekers in South Africa, it is safe to say that the real struggles are occurring in the Eastern Cape, North West, Free State and Mpumalanga. No wonder many job seekers in South Africa descend from these states in search of work opportunities in different parts of the country. The Western Cape has the lowest unemployment rate and is the province where you are most likely to find a new job, as the unemployment rate is decreasing over the years.
Western Cape tops the list
Gauteng and the Western Cape, South Africa's economic powerhouses, receive the largest influx of semi-migrants each year. This is no surprise as both offer the largest number of jobs in Mzansi, according to CareerJunction. However, although Gauteng has more job openings than the Western Cape, it has not been able to successfully recruit job seekers. In some cases, it may be better to stay in your home province rather than go to Gauteng.
