England captain Harry Kane's late goal against Bochum was not enough as Bayern Munich suffered their third straight defeat in nine days.
Bayern took the lead through Jamal Musiala's goal before the first of two suspensions due to fan protests.
Bochum scored twice with goals from Takuma Asano and Keven Schlotterbeck.
After Dayot Upamecano was sent off, Kevin Stoeger's penalty made it 3-1 and Kane scored his 25th league goal of the season, but it wasn't enough.
Bayern, coached by Thomas Tuchel, remain eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga.
