Massmart-owned retailer Macro & Game and the National Consumer Commission have recalled Troy boxing bags, saying they are unsafe because “sharp objects protrude from the bag.”
Retailers said any boxing bags purchased between January 19 of this year and now must be returned to stores for a full refund.
“Customers who own any of the affected bags are advised to immediately stop using the product and return it to their nearest Makro or Game store.”
Affected products include:
- Trojan Large Boxing Bag (Barcode: 6009544516439)
- Trojan Extra Large Boxing Bag (Barcode: 06009544516446)
The products, priced between R600 and R1,000, had been removed from both retailers' online platforms by Sunday morning.
Local brand Trojan has been manufacturing gym equipment since 1981 and supplies products exclusively to Game and Makro.
