Cardi B has spoken out in support of South African award-winning star Tyra, who has faced significant backlash in recent months. The “Water” hitmaker has been criticized for a variety of reasons, from her discussion of race and Grammy wins to her dancing with Usher and most recently her 2024 VMA win.
One of the most talked about moments at the VMAs was when Tyra handed an award to Lil Nas X, saying it was “too heavy.” The gesture quickly went viral, with people offering different interpretations of the incident.
Cardi B addressed the situation in a recent Twitterspace, explaining the importance of Tyra reaching out for help and highlighting the practicality behind the singer's request to lighten the load.
“I have to worry about giving a shitty speech and carrying 10 pounds of shit on my back and looking good. [award] “In your f**king hand, so you don't know how f**king heavy that f**king award is,” the rap star said.
“I've actually met Tyra. I'm 5'3 so I'm naturally short, and she's shorter than me.” Invasion of privacy The rapper continued, “I'm not gonna lie, she has a really beautiful figure, but she's super skinny. Like Mariah skinny. She must weigh like 109 pounds. So imagine being 109 pounds and having to carry 10 awards in heels.”
“She literally asked Lil Nas X. People are trying to turn this into, 'How rude? She asked another female artist to hold the award like she was a servant.' I love Harry but she didn't even ask him to hold the award! She asked a man, Lil Nas X, to hold it.”
Cardi B also addressed Joe Budden's criticism of the 22-year-old Afropop singer, calling him an “arrogant African.”
