DA State Chair Dean McPherson Both countries say they have put aside historical differences in the negotiations.
“We have to put the people of KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa above sometimes narrow party political interests. In this case, there are only six parties represented in parliament. There is more party integration, there is no division. So there are only four parties, including us, that can really work together. So we have to look at other parties and see how we can come together around agreed principles and values.”

National level consultations
The party met yesterday to discuss power-sharing arrangements after winning about 22% of the national vote, securing a majority in the Western Cape and a presence in all other provinces.
The DA also discussed considering the ANC's proposal to form a Government of National Unity (GNU).
DA national spokesman Solly Malatsi said the party welcomed the possibility of a working relationship with the ANC.
The party also said the Democratic Alliance was keeping its cards close when it came to talks on forming a coalition or national unity government.
