Comedian Mpho “Pops” Modikoane will return to center stage as host of the highly anticipated 11th annual Savannah Comics Choice Comedy Awards.
South African comedy is getting better.
Known for his relentless work ethic, seemingly always moving from one big project to another, Pops embraces this new venture as he reflects on the growth surrounding South Africa's comedy scene.
“Like our country, our comedy infrastructure has been in a bit of jeopardy for a while, so everyone has had to pull their weight to rebuild the framework of comedy. “I didn’t,” he said.

Who else will join him on stage?
Pops won't be flying solo on this project.
He joined three other comedy geniuses, Celeste Ntuli, Khanyisa Bunu and Robbie Collins, at the 11th Savannah Comics Choice Comedy Awards, themed 'Thinking You Know South Africa'. 's appearance promises an interesting mix of awards and humour. It will be held on April 13th at the Lyric Theater in Gold Leaf City.
In addition to giving their acceptance speeches, the winners in each of the 12 categories will have five minutes of stand-up comedy, so expect a night of laughs and pure comedy brilliance.

Kayla Hendricks, Senior Brand Manager at Savannah Premium Cider (a partner since 2012), said of the uniqueness of the event: “This year's theme resonates with the spirit of Savannah's Premium His Cider. Much like the comedians celebrated at the awards ceremony, Savannah uses humor to provide a crisp, insightful look at what's going on around us. It provides a good and witty perspective.”
Adding to the hype, Comedy Central is on board for the first time as an official TV partner and is poised to air a special highlighting highlights in the weeks following the event. Tickets for this year's Savannah Comics Choice Comedy Awards are on sale from R195.
