Cosplay is also a big attraction at the convention, with fans known to dress up as their favorite characters and superheroes.

Comic Con Africa has previously welcomed big name artists to the country, including Kevin Sussman in 2018.The Big Bang Theory), William Shatner (2019) (Star Trek), Jamie Campbell Bower, 2022 (Stranger Things), and more recently Anthony Daniels in 2023.Star Wars).
The four-day event will feature people dressed as their favorite characters, international celebrities making special appearances, an unparalleled pop culture shopping experience, competitive and casual gaming, trading cards, table games, interactive experiences, animation and more.
The pop culture event was originally launched in 2018 with hopes of attracting 15,000 fans, but hopes were dashed when over 47,000 fans thronged the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit before it was moved to the Johannesburg Expo Centre (Nasrec).

The festival continues to grow every year, with Comic Con Cape Town celebrating its fifth anniversary this year and welcoming over 32,000 fans.Number The live iteration will take place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre (Nasrec) from 26th to 29th September.
Last year, more than 80,000 people attended the Nasrec 2023 event.
So far, Comic Con Africa has announced the participation of several comic artists and international cosplayers, with the first international celebrity being Fantastic Beasts, Ball of Rage and the walking dead Fame – was announced last week.
