News24 publishes daily tracker of political party endorsements Until voting day on May 29th. PCreated by the Foundation for Social Research, this tracker provides the latest insights into the changing political temperature of voters.
Democratic South Africa will vote on May 29 to elect a new government for the country and its nine provinces, the seventh time since 1994.
The final weeks and days leading up to the vote are critical for political parties and independent candidates. Many voters are undecided about who to vote for, and party support levels fluctuate based on major developments, announcements and advertising campaigns.
To monitor this shift in voter support, the Social Research Foundation (SRF) has built a tracking tool that provides daily insights into voters' political temperature. This draws on the results of a baseline survey of 1,835 geographically representative registered voters conducted by the Foundation in April of this year.
The survey was conducted by telephone.

Every day, 200 new participants are added to the poll and 200 of the oldest participants are removed. SRF emphasizes that this tracking tool does not constitute a prediction or prediction of election results. Rather, it provides a real-time snapshot of voter sentiment. This helps track how different issues can impact a political party's election campaign.
SRF is a think tank founded in 2021. The board is chaired by Frans Cronje, former director of the Institute of Race Relations.
The tool also models low, medium, and high turnout scenarios (56% to 66% turnout). News24 says he is not affiliated with SRF, but this scientifically reliable tool will help assess voter mood ahead of his 2024 election, the most contentious and most unpredictable since 1994. We think it's valuable.
