Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen blamed infighting within the ruling African National Congress (ANC) for the collapse in service delivery in the northwest.
Steenhuisen led a march against corruption and cadre deployment in Klerksdorp.
Opposition leaders have highlighted unemployment, water shortages and poor roads as some of the reasons why businesses are being forced to move out of the state. He accused the North West provincial government of failing to intervene in troubled municipalities.
“The provincial government is not doing anything about this issue because they do not intervene properly for fear of the factionalism that exists between the people of the province and the local people. If local governments fail, we will step in. We will not let things get out of control. There are more potholes here than there are roads left in many of those areas. was once the country's car dealership hub, but Steenhuisen said businesses are moving away from the area, where the licensing department can only issue licenses for 12 cars a day. Ta.”
