Details of the memorial service and funeral for MC, DJ, and businessman Peter Mashata Mabuse have been announced.
In the early hours of Sunday, April 21, a Mamelodi Sundowns stadium announcer was shot dead in a hail of bullets in Soshanguve, northwest of Pretoria. He had just returned from a gig at Epogini Lifestyle in the same town.
Memorial and Funeral Service Details
Mashata's life will be honored at a memorial service on Thursday, April 25th. The service will be held at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Pretoria West Campus from 14:00 to 18:00.
A memorial concert will be held at the Imperial Palace in the evening of the same day. Proceeds from the show, which was organized by Paul Mtilala, Wilson B. Nkosi, DJ Young and Mashabela, will go to the Mabuse family.
In addition to the memorial service and concert, a wreath will be laid at his family home in Block U, Lina Street, Mabopane, on Saturday 27th April from 2pm to 5pm. The soul music DJ's funeral will be held at 08:00 the next day at Acacia Community Hall.
Mashata's mother wants justice to be served

“For me, there's still a question mark, he's not gone, maybe he still exists. It's very painful,” she said, calling for justice.
“It's not just an interview, I don't want the Prime Minister to visit my house, I don't want MPs to visit my house. May justice be served.”
The 62-year-old said Mashata is her only child. This soul music DJ, also known as the “Noise Maker” or “Mushindo Maker”, had one adopted child.
“He was a boy who always had a smile on his face… very supportive. I have two hands and it feels like one of them was ripped off,” the heartbroken mother explained.
Tutankhamun pays tribute
Mr Mashata's employer, TUT, paid tribute to him in a statement on Monday.
“Mr Mabuse is a loyal employee of TUT and has served as a Residence Advisor at both the Pretoria and Ga Rankwa campuses. He has served in various community roles including as presenter and stadium announcer at Mamelodi Sundowns home matches. Our engagement activities have had a positive impact on society beyond the university gates.”
The university said it is providing all possible support to Mabushi's family, friends, colleagues and students during this difficult time.
“Families should be given the space and time to come to terms with their great loss and honor the memory of the deceased with dignity.
“The university urges the public, including the media, to exercise restraint and consideration for the family during this time of grief.
