This documentary follows Sir Elton on this emotional, intimate and uplifting full-circle journey as he looks back on his life and the incredible early years of his 50-year career.
The Disney Branded Television original documentary is produced by Rocket Entertainment and This Machine Filmworks (part of Sony Pictures Television) and directed by R.J. Cutler and Elton's husband David Farr. Directed by Nish.
Cutler and Furnish also serve as producers, along with Trevor Smith. Elise Perlstein, Mark Blatty, Luke Lloyd-Davies, Rachel Paley, Jane Cha Cutler, and John Batusek serve as executive producers.
The original documentary will premiere on December 13, 2024 on Disney+.

As Sir Elton prepares for his final North American concert at Dodger Stadium, he takes viewers back in time to explore the extraordinary highs and lows of his childhood, and how he dealt with adversity, abuse, and addiction. He talks about how he overcame his challenges to become the icon he is today.
Farewell yellow brick road The tour ran from 2018 to 2023 in front of audiences around the world, but was longer than expected due to delays caused by the pandemic.
Using the stadium as a common denominator allows the film to jump back and forth in its timeline and explore how Sir Elton and the society around him have changed over the decades.
The most obvious difference is the attitude towards homosexuality.
Sir Elton said in a 1976 interview with Rolling Stone that he was bisexual. He reflects in the film that being open about his sexuality negatively affected his career.
But today he is one of the millions of gay men around the world who have the right to marry and start a family.
Sir Elton also did not hesitate to admit that he used drugs at the height of his fame and that it had a negative effect on his songwriting.

The film recently premiered at the London Film Festival and received mixed reviews.
