Koula has worked for popular radio stations such as 5FM and 947.
DJ Koula has made an unexpected comeback to South African broadcasting after a 12-year hiatus.
Koura's radio career began at campus radio. Later, she moved to her 5FM, and in the 1990s she moved to 947.
The legendary DJ joins Joburg's cozy community music radio station 919, where she hosts. Connection with the American side Broadcast every Saturday from 1pm to 3pm.
Koula is excited to be back and says her goal is to foster a sense of unity and connection within the diaspora, while showcasing the achievements of South Africans who are making waves internationally.
“I will be interviewing South Africans from around the world who are forging their own path and finding success in their new countries,” she said.
She also expressed her keenness to bridge the gap between South Africans at home and abroad.
“What I want to achieve is to bridge the gap between listeners in Joburg and their family and friends overseas…and bring listeners from far away a little closer together.”

“Once a Joe Burger, always a Joe Burger.”
919 Station Manager Callan du Preez said he was thrilled to be working with Coola again.
Furthermore, she added: She said: “Even if she was once a Joeburger, she will always be a Joeburger no matter where she is in the world… She is an incredible talent and she has always been the real deal!
“Koura has always been a big promoter of local music and has great relationships with local musicians, which is great for our overall strategy.”
Mr Karen said their vision in welcoming Koura was to bridge the gap between listeners who have loved ones overseas and overseas listeners who still have loved ones in SA.
“Whether it’s catching up with fellow South Africans who are making a name for themselves internationally or simply passing on the message of a loved one we can’t see, we are here to bridge the gap. As we like to say, we're a small radio station with big ideas!”
Koula has no intention of returning to South Africa. She has been in Texas for the past 12 years and she will be broadcasting live from the comfort of her home from 6am to 8am local time.
