Annual price adjustments for DStv packages have been announced by Multichoice and will take effect from April 1, 2024.
Across DStv's satellite pay-TV packages, prices are set to rise by 3.1% to 7.8%. However, DStv's streaming-only portfolio remains unchanged.
Among the price adjustments, DStv Access will experience the most significant price increase. However, changes will also be made to this entry-level package. Major upgrades to sports products.
“We have renewed La Liga and are in the process of finalizing a long-term extension with La Liga,” Mark Jury, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa, told MyBroadband. .
DStv Access' sports lineup includes ESPN (introducing December 2023), La Liga, SuperSport Variety 4 and SuperSport Blitz.
DStv's Compact Plus package, which offers more than eight sports channels, will also see a significant increase of 6.9%.
With this price adjustment, the jury said Compact Plus subscribers will soon be able to enjoy an updated channel selection. This includes the best of Showmax's original content.

The jury also emphasized MultiChoice's focus on price-guaranteed contract packages.
Customers who sign a 24-month agreement can benefit from MultiChoice's price guarantee. This ensures that your rates will not increase during the term of your contract.
Additionally, subscribers can upgrade their contract at any time during the two-year period. On the other hand, downgrades are only possible through cancellation, which incurs a fee.
MultiChoice's price guarantee is as follows:
DStv Premium — R879 per month for 24 months
DStv Compact — R399 per month for 24 months
DStv Access – ¥109/month for 24 months
In August 2023, DStv revised its streaming policy to allow subscribers to add additional mobile streams to their accounts.
These additional streams are exclusive to mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops and cannot be accessed through smart TV apps or smart connected boxes.
With this update, customers who choose additional mobile streams can now stream content simultaneously on two devices in addition to their primary TV decoder.
For DStv Stream customers, the bundled limit includes two streams along with decoder-based package offerings.
In a recent communication to subscribers, DStv announced that customers now have the option to add two mobile streams.
