Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema said his party will be in talks with various parties about a possible coalition government. He spoke to media at the RESULTS Operations Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg, early today.
Malema also congratulated his Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) party on its victories in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalan provinces.
“The 2024 elections were not easy because the efforts and resources expended in KwaZulu-Natal, parts of Gauteng and Mpumalanga were undermined by the commendable and decisive rise of the MK Party, which outperformed the EFF in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga. Nevertheless, we congratulate and commend the South African people for ousting the ruling party from its absolute majority that has been abused since 1994.”
Malema added that from now on parliament would make decisions based on logic and common sense, not on the rights of being the dominant party.
He also said his party would consult with the various political parties on how to select parliamentary leaders to lead South Africa.

Open Borders Policy
Malema denied claims that his party's open borders policy had cost him votes.
He insists that no party benefited from xenophobic attacks during the elections and that his party will continue to advocate for the rights of people across Africa.
