Award-winning rapper M.T. has given Mike's Kitchen restaurant in Parktown until Wednesday to apologize or face legal repercussions.
According to a letter issued by M.T.'s legal representatives, the rapper and his friends went to Mike's Kitchen for dinner on Monday and “smelled marijuana and saw a lot of tattoos.” He was refused entry for some reason.
“They were further escorted out of the premises and stranded on the street, but the driver had already left,” the letter added.
Emtee took to Instagram on Tuesday to rant about the incident, saying it was heartbreaking.
She added, “This is worse than the avocado story. I worry about my mixed-race children, whose father is a rapper and who is belittled, ridiculed, and made fun of his entire career…
“My heart is broken. Thankfully there was no security that day so all I saw were black kids with @mannytarget tattoos. I don't even know who I am. Everyone knows who I am. I can't talk to anyone about this because I want them to shut up. I'm sorry. I can't. I'm not going to rest until something is done about this issue.”

Apology or legal implications
Until today, Emtee's legal representatives have told Mike's Kitchen they must apologize or face legal repercussions.
“This was an act of harassment and racial profiling, and caused serious humiliation and damage to our client's reputation, both as an artist and as a member of society. We demand a public apology,” the letter states.
“If such an apology is not received by the close of business tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13, 2024, we will take immediate legal action.”
Mike's Kitchen refutes M.T.'s allegations
In response to M.T.'s allegations, Mike's Kitchen issued a statement emphasizing that it has no ownership or operational relationship with Mike's Heritage House.
The restaurant said that although Mike's Heritage House has a similar name to Mike's Kitchen, it is operated separately and is not affiliated with the Mike's Kitchen brand.
“We strongly condemn all forms of racism, discrimination, and bigotry in any facility, including the recent incident reported at Mikes Heritage House. Racism has no place in our society. We are firmly against it.
“It is essential that all businesses, including Mike's Kitchen, uphold our values of inclusivity, respect and equality for all people. We are dedicated to creating a friendly atmosphere for all. ” reads the statement.
