A five-year-old boy was hit by a stray bullet in the Matshwale area of Musina, Limpopo, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said a bullet penetrated the roof of the boy's home just after midnight.

“Based on preliminary investigations, it is believed that the bullets were fired from an unknown location. The child had fallen asleep while watching television and his brother [only] “I found out he was shot when they tried to bring him back,” he said.
“He then woke up his grandmother and the child was immediately taken to hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.”
Police were investigating the attempted murder.
Police were also investigating a robbery that happened in the same area Friday night.
Ledwaba said the 17-year-old boy had returned home after hanging out with friends to find three women knocking on his door asking who owned the house he was renting.
The boy then messaged the owner, saying someone was looking for him.

“The women suddenly tried to open the door to let the intruder in but it was locked.
“One of the perpetrators made a phone call and two unknown men arrived and forced open the burglary door. Once inside the house, the men pinned the boy to the ground while the women stole the television.”
The group fled the scene and no one was arrested.
