Tommy will be laid to rest peacefully on Saturday.
American football star Tommy Lazarus, affectionately known as “Touchdown Tommy,” has tragically passed away in a hunting accident in Florida.
In addition to being a sports star, Lazarus served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army after graduating from Central Michigan University.
A 27-year-old man was reportedly killed by a stray bullet while hunting.
Details of the incident have not yet been revealed, but according to reports, mirrorLazaro was pronounced dead at the scene.
Central Michigan University head coach Jim McElwain, who coached Lazarus in college, described him as a true leader.
“When we took over the program, Tommy was really our leader in many ways.
“CMU football is fortunate to have had him and will always remember all he did for so many of us. He will be missed by all of the Chippewa Nation.” McElwain said.

Tommy Lazarus Funeral and Memorial Service
Lazarus' memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28th at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery following the service.
Lazarus left behind his parents, sister and fiance, according to a statement shared by the U.S. Department of the Army.
“Tommy's unwavering commitment to excellence has earned him numerous accolades and was admired by all who have worked with him.
“Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was known for his humility, kindness, and love for his family and his fiancée, Kaylee Lynch,” the statement read.
