Veteran actress Gutina Mkhize and her children are at risk of losing their home to strangers.
The 51-year-old said she was being pressured to leave her home in south Johannesburg by a man who also claimed to own it.
“They have been harassing me and my children since January. I have reported them to the Mondeol police on numerous occasions but they have not helped and the threats continue to escalate,” she said.
“As we all know, there are huge organisations in our country that specialise in selling houses illegally. This man bought my house under mysterious circumstances. The matter is still under investigation but he wants me to vacate the house like yesterday. Where am I going to go with my children?” she asked.
Gusina said the men invited another group into their home and tried to force them out.
“He has broken into our house three times, the third time was last Saturday, he tried to get someone to live in my house. Mangekani! (Powerfully),” said Mkhize.
“They are two men, complete strangers and we were not introduced to them. One of them is very arrogant, loud and rude. He plays loud music and today he turned the water off when he was out and turned it back on when he returned. How can we be sure it is safe to share our garden with them? We don't know them,” she said.
But Mkhize is adamant that she will not leave her home.
“I will not be bullied out of my house and I will not resort to violence. If I die as a result of violence or disappear mysteriously, this man should be the first person investigated,” she said.
