Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba was provisionally suspended in September after testing positive for testosterone.
France midfielder Paul Pogba has been handed a four-year suspension for a doping violation earlier this season, Italian media reported on Thursday.
Sky Sports Italia and La Repubblica reported that the sports prosecutor's request for a four-year suspension has been granted.
Pogba was given a provisional suspension by Italy's National Anti-Doping Tribunal (NADO Italia) in September after testing positive for the banned substance testosterone.
The test, carried out after Juventus' opening 3-0 Serie A season win against Udinese on August 20, detected testosterone, the hormone that increases endurance in athletes. The 30-year-old did not play in that match, coming on as a substitute.
Pogba's positive doping test was confirmed by a second back-analysis of his sample in October.
Juventus did not comment, but sources confirmed the club had been informed of the decision to impose a four-year ban and would consider next steps.
The Frenchman has endured a difficult second season with the Turin-based side due to injuries, having left Manchester United on a free transfer in 2022.
The 2018 World Cup winner missed much of last season due to knee and hamstring injuries and knee surgery, and was unable to feature for France at the World Cup in Qatar.
