Some people who were unable to vote in the special votes on Monday and Tuesday are frustrated that they were unable to exercise their right.
Several people who applied for home visits in Vhembe district, Limpopo, claim that IEC officials did not fulfil their mandate to visit their homes.
In Limpopo province, more than 96,000 people applied for home visits ahead of this year's special vote, with the majority of applicants from Vhembe district.
The IEC in Limpopo said some people who had applied for home visits were not at home when officials visited.
“It's not acceptable. I thought people would come to vote but no one has come. It's not acceptable as a citizen. I was going to vote,” lamented Joyce Langolo, a disgruntled citizen.
“They came to register me for the special vote. They said they would visit me so I could vote, but they never came during the special voting period. If someone had caught me, I wouldn't have been infected. I would have starved along with my children,” said Valerie Mbulaheni, an affected citizen.
“When we visit and you are not there. That is not possible because our plan is to be in a particular house between this time and this time. You can imagine what will happen if we have to visit over 90,000 houses and no one is at home,” said Nkalo Mateta of the Limpopo provincial electoral commission.
