Fulham saw off a potentially distracting Brighton side at Craven Cottage in the Premier League against Roma in the Europa League on Thursday.
Rodrigo Muniz's tenacious work won the ball high up the field and Harry Wilson curled in beautifully for the opener to put Fulham back on track.
The second time, the tables were reversed and Wilson fed Muniz the ball from six yards out and headed it in for his fifth goal of the season, all of which had come in the past five games.
Despite having two goals in the first half, Brighton enjoyed 70% possession but struggled to create any meaningful chances, resulting in meandering and boring football.
Once the match started, Brighton brought on the attacking duo of Simon Adingra and Ansu Fati, who joined the attack aggressively in search of a route back into the game, making for an even more exciting spectacle at both ends after half-time. Ta.
Evan Ferguson had two big scoring chances. The first tumbled painfully wide of the far post, the second was well saved by a sprawling Bernd Leno and substitute Facundo Buonanotte struck the base of the post.
As the game entered stoppage time, with all of Brighton's outfield players in the opposition half, Fulham's Bobby de Córdoba-Reid won the ball on the halfway line, ran forward and connected it with Adama Traore to score his first goal for the club. Ta.
Fulham remained in 12th place, while Brighton dropped to ninth.
More to come.
