Glencore is considering a possible takeover by Anglo American, a move that could set up a takeover battle with BHP Group over the mining company, Reuters reported, citing anonymous sources. be.
Glencore has held preliminary internal discussions but may not ultimately approach Anglo, Reuters reported late Thursday.
A Glencore spokesperson told Reuters the company does not comment on rumors or speculation.
Anglo last week rejected a $39 billion (then about R740 billion) all-share offer from BHP. The Australian mining company is considering submitting an improvement proposal, sources said on Saturday.
