Sourcefit President Andy Schachtel and Councilor James Vos attend the launch of the BPO company's new Cape Town office.
Philippines-headquartered business process outsourcing (BPO) company SourceFit has expanded its presence in SA, officially opening the doors to its Cape Town office last week.
The new branch, located in the De Waterkant area, marks the entry of a new international company into South Africa's booming BPO market, with Cape Town considered a prime location.
SourceFit said in a statement that the launch is underlined by its partnership with the City's industry partner CapeBPO and aims to be a source of economic growth and job creation for SA.
Speaking at the launch event, James Voss, member of the city's Mayoral Committee on Economic Opportunities, welcomed SourceFit's choice of Cape Town for its new office.
“I am happy to have a vibrant team working alongside me, not only to develop this industry, but also to give dignity to so many Capetians who are currently employed in the BPO sector. …We are adding more than 90,000 Capetes,” he commented.
The BPO sector, commonly referred to as the call center sector, is gaining traction as a catalyst for job creation, especially among local youth.
South Africa is quickly becoming one of the most preferred locations internationally for BPO companies, with the sector targeting 500,000 new jobs by 2030, based on industry estimates.
Founded in the Philippines in 2009, Sourcefit has expanded to the Dominican Republic, Armenia, and now South Africa, offering bespoke BPO services.
The company says SA aims to leverage local talent and expertise to provide “high-quality services” to businesses around the world, connecting Cape Town to the global economy.
Andy Schachtel, President of Sourcefit, said: This is not only a testament to the favorable local business environment and the hard work of our team, but also to the competitiveness of the South African workforce in the global market. ”
Mr Schachtel said SourceFit's move in South Africa would not only expand the company's global footprint, but also help develop the local economy and workforce.
