Mzansi Magic Telenovela Gukeberha – Empire Cancelled.
The report comes months after DStv denied headline-making cancellation reports.
In July, well-known entertainment commentator Phil Mphela announced the show's cancellation.
In a statement published on its website, the channel said: Gukeberha: Empire We plan to continue broadcasting the program for the time being.
“Planning for the next season is underway and more information will be provided in due course. Mzansi Magic has been made aware of the allegations of mistreatment of cast members. We take the allegations seriously and will be contacting the production company to verify.”
“Gukeberha: Empire “The project has been welcomed by our audiences as a fantastic way to connect with this beautiful part of the Eastern Cape and we are proud of what it has achieved in the province,” the statement read.
On Monday, Phil Mphela returned again with the same report.
“After 520 episodes and two seasons, the Mzansi Magic telenovela is coming to an end. The show is produced by Tshedza Pictures,” he wrote on Twitter.
Social media users are not impressed with the story and seem to be celebrating its cancellation.
“They need to take away all film equipment from the production team and ensure the writers can never write for the show again,” wrote a Twitter user.
It's a shame that some people lost their jobs, but to be honest, I'm sick of that storyline.
