Bafana Bafana defeated Morocco 2-0 on Tuesday 30th January to reach the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) at Stade Laurent Pokou.
'Step by step' Bafana Bafana advances to AFCON quarter-finals
Teboho Mokoena and player of the match Evidence Makgopa scored in the second half to secure Bafana Bafana a place in the quarter-finals, where they will face Cape Verde on Saturday. Sowetan LIVE report.
Head coach Pitso Mosimane looked back on his timeline and praised Mokoena as he reflected on the game.

“Tebogo Mokoena! What a player. The free kick he scored was just the icing on the cake! He stepped on every blade of grass on the pitch. He dominates the midfield. There is no debate, SA are one of the most tactically disciplined teams in the tournament. There’s no extra stuff, just polishing,” he said.
Mosimane was right to congratulate Bafana Bafana on their recent achievements, but admitted the team still needed to focus on their future challenges in the tournament.
“One step at a time. We still have a way to go. Our feet are on the ground, but we can celebrate this hard-won victory,” he said.

Gigi Kodwa talks about South Africa's victory
Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gigi Kodwa also congratulated Bafana Bafana on their victory. He urged South Africans to unite and continue to show further support to the national football team on its Afcon journey.
