Among the many insights provided on the Springbok team: chasing the sun 2 This documentary certainly highlighted the value of Felix Jones' role in episode two.
The 36-year-old may be relatively inexperienced as a coach, but his talent was quickly recognized when he worked under Rassie Erasmus during his time coaching at Munster.
When Erasmus returned to South Africa in 2018, he immediately recruited Jones to join the Springbok management team, where he quickly became one of the most popular and influential coaches.
Known for his incredible 'rugby brain', Jones brings expert analysis and unique perspective to the Springboks' plans, and this was certainly evident during last year's World Cup.
During one clip from chasing the sun 2For example, Jones explains how he went down a YouTube wormhole and came up with some incredible insights ahead of a crucial quarter-final match against France.
Jones' overall influence was not lost on social media users, who unanimously expressed what a loss Jones would be to the Springboks after opting to join the England national team after the World Cup.
Below you can see some of the outpouring of gratitude to Felix Jones from Springbok supporters.
Before joining England, Jones praised the influence of Rassie Erasmus on his career after winning two World Cups with South Africa.
Jones has been appointed as England's defense coach and is quoted in the following article: telegraph paperthe 36-year-old shared his experiences alongside tacticians like Erasmus.
“When I first got into coaching, I was very fortunate. There were a number of players who had a big influence on me, guys like Rassie, Anthony Foley, Joe Schmidt. Actually, The coaching network is pretty open to talking about it,” Jones said.
“So you end up with a huge wealth of people to help you along the way. Everyone shapes you a little bit, and you take a little bit from all of them.
“Everyone there [in South Africa] He's very open-minded and understands what professional rugby is all about. There's really nothing to talk about. Most teams look at other teams to see what specific teams are better at. Not everything is transferable. New Zealand can only play like New Zealand. South Africa can only play like South Africa. Ireland can only play like Ireland.
“But there are some little things you can tweak and modify to fit the way you want to play.”
The Springboks have bid adieu to Jones, but strengthened their coaching group with the appointment of other international coaches Tony Brown and Gerry Flannery, and added former referee Jaco Peiper as a law and discipline advisor. He was accepted into this role.
