The former AmaZulu midfielder believes the Blues have saved football governing body Safa from being in trouble in the Afcon tournament by using Sundowns players.

Mabaso insists the work Sundowns put into their development structure helped Bafana and saved Safa from major embarrassment.
This happened as Bafana helped Sundowns to reach the semi-finals of the Afcon tournament, but the former professional said Safa avoided embarrassment by ignoring the development of the game.
Masandawana, Sundowns have 11 players in Bruce's squad, seven of whom started against Bafana in the highlight game of the ongoing biennial Afcon.

Mabaso, who is based in Soweto, added that Sundowns had put in place the right structure that would benefit Bafana as well as the Blues while saving Safa from embarrassment.
“Thank you to Sundowns for introducing the right structures in Chlorkop and saving our mother body (Safa) from embarrassment. Without your work we could not have reached this stage of the competition. Yes,” Mabaso posted on social media about Sundowns, Safa and the Blues.
“The shortcut from the mother’s body is exposed again! I still maintain that 25 years without football glory, we can't go anywhere fast as long as children are still ignored, but development from an early age is ignored. There is an abundance of talent.

“Thank you Makgopa (Evidence) and Yaya (Sfephelo Sithole) and their respective teams. Football teams are built, not cut and pasted.
“The only team that has mastered cut and paste is Real Madrid, and they have been doing it for centuries. Identifying players from under six years old, developing them and forming them as a team. let's go.
“Let's see more organized soccer (leagues) for juniors, well-organized leagues for juniors, and coaching education for the underprivileged and disadvantaged.

“They are developing players from an early age and they are not being recognized, so instead we want to take money out of their pockets.”

Some fans were unhappy that the Bulls chose more Sundowns players compared to other DStv Premiership clubs, but the former Usuthu star believes otherwise and Safa comments on how he was saved from embarrassment.
This was partly due to Kaizer Chiefs players being overlooked by the Blues, but they still defied the odds and almost reached the final.
Mabaso said: “My view is that it was a wise decision by Mr Bruce to save face by acquiring the entire Sundowns XI, otherwise you will be responsible for the mess your parent organization has caused.'' ”, he added on how Bruce and Sundowns saved Safa from embarrassment.
