Chidinma Adesina has been making headlines in the media since her arrival in Nigeria and being crowned the new Miss Universe Nigeria.
In a recent interview, the model spoke about the criticism and hate she faced after being crowned a Miss South Africa finalist.
“It all started because of my name. My name is Chidinma and people were not happy that I was representing South Africa. That's actually how it really started,” she said.
“I've lived there for 23 years and it's heartbreaking to see that they were not accepted and were not welcomed.”
Chidinma also said he would not speak about the identity theft allegations against his mother as it was a legal matter.
She became emotional and broke down in tears as she recounted the difficult experiences she had in South Africa before withdrawing from the competition.
Despite the challenges, Chidinma admitted in an interview that he was born and raised in South Africa, lived there for 23 years and remains proud to be a Nigerian.
The 23-year-old expressed gratitude to Silverbird and the Miss Universe Nigeria team for giving her the opportunity.
