Sbahle Mpisane shares how he went from hating tattoos to covering his body in ink.
The South African fitness enthusiast took to social media to explain that he doesn't like having tattoos on his body.
“I have always been against tattoos and have always criticised people with tattoos. I grew up thinking of ink art as dirty and have even said out loud that tattoos are dirty,” she wrote.
But after a car accident that left her body scarred, Sbahle had no choice.
“After a car accident I was left with scars all over my body and felt dirty and #whatever 🙄 I was mad as the scars were basically tattoos I didn't want.”
“To make my life easier, I decided to get tattoos to cover up some of my scars and clear up some of the stains. My mother supported my art because she knew it would give me the peace and confidence I needed at the time.”
She also addressed people who might criticize her for having tattoos on her skin.
“Recently, a friend who has small tattoos advised me not to get sleeve tattoos to cover the scars on my arms that many people stare at (out of curiosity). I laughed at her and said, “We are both sinners, doll. You killed one person and I blew up a family” (I don't wanna laugh anymore, ngoba izinja ziyafana) 😅 The Bible will judge me, but I had to hide all my scars so I'm happy people can't see them or ask questions!!!”
