During an exclusive interview with SABC News On Sunday, April 14, Anele Tembe's father, Moses Tembe, revealed that the family had built a library in his daughter's memory.
Anele Tembe Library: Moses speaks of his daughter's legacy
In 2021, Anele Tembe died from a fall at the age of 22 in a suspected suicide. She fell from the 10th floor of the five-star Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town.
In a recent sit-down interview with SABC News senior correspondent Criselda Lewis, Anele's father, Moses Tembe, said the family wants to protect his daughter's name by doing something special in Anele's memory. he said. The interview took place in the library of Durban Women's College, where Anele enrolled in 2017.
This library was donated by Nosipho Tembe in memory of “her sister” Anele. “As a family, we are still in great pain and suffering from the loss of our daughter Anele…Our hearts remain shattered by Anele's death. But with that said, by the grace of God, our hearts still beat,” Moses said.

Moses said her daughter loved reading and sports and knew what she wanted from life. “She knew what she wanted in life. As a family, we thought about what we could do to keep her legacy and spirit alive. For Annele, the library has always been a happy place. We couldn't have found a more appropriate project than this library,” Anele's father said.

With high ceilings clad in dark brown wood and furniture in warm tones of gray and white, this space looks like something you'd see in Architectural Digest. “This is a project that not only keeps her legacy and name alive, but also adds value to other children,” Moses added.

After graduating, Anele Tembe went on to attend the Jackie Cameron School of Food and Wine, according to the school's website.
The school's memorial read: “Anele 'Nellie' Tembe was a beautiful soul whose tenacity, vibrant energy and incredible culinary skills will be forever remembered at Durban Women's College. It says “Deaf”.
Moses Tembe said he knew his daughter loved her life and had many plans. “She didn't get naked and throw herself down,” he says.
