Moody: Kishan is getting his career back on track.
Tom Moody praises Mumbai Indians batsmen
Ishan Kishan, who has returned to competitive cricket after a break due to personal reasons, is not thinking about his place in India's T20 World Cup squad.
Kishan, who last played for India in November, had requested a break during the team's tour of South Africa in December and January. He returned to the game during the DY Patil T20 Cup in February. Currently, he is the top scorer for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 with his 161 runs at a strike rate of 182.95.
After scoring a 34-ball 69 against Royal Challengers Bangalore and helping Mumbai to a seven-wicket win, he said on Thursday: “The World Cup is out of my hands and I'm taking things very easy right now.'' I'm thinking about it,” he said. “We have to take it one game at a time and understand that a lot of things are out of the players' control.
“that [the IPL] It's a long, big tournament, so I don't want to jump over it. I know he's only playing one game at a time, but [my motto is] But I can help the team, so let's do it.
Talking about his time away from the game, Kishan said: [during the break]. When you take a break, people gossip a lot about it and say a lot of things on social media. However, we feel it's important to understand that not everything is in the players' hands. You just have to make the most of your break. This is what it means to adopt a good mindset. ”
Kishan, along with Shreyas Iyer, was not considered in the BCCI central contract for the period between October 2023 and September 2024. But Kishan is not thinking of proving his point to anyone.
“That's not true [that] I want to prove something to somebody,” he said, “I just have to go out there and enjoy it. I've learned that I don't have to put pressure on myself for these things that are not in my hands. . You need to understand what is [your] What is controllable [your] Out of control.
“If I was the old Ishan Kishan, I might not have been able to bat well in the first two overs.” [against RCB]. There must have been some pressure. But over time I learned that even 20 overs is a long time and it's okay to take your time. You can move forward with faith. So all of that helped during that break as well. We lost a few matches here, but I feel like most of the players, not just me, were eager to work together with everyone. It never meant that just because we individually performed well for the team, we didn't know what other players were going through. So if someone isn't doing well, you know how they feel.
“So these things changed for me as well. Even when I'm not performing, if I know someone isn't feeling well, let's talk to them, let's find out how they think. , I mean, that's why something like this happened after the break.”
Hardik 'loves a challenge', fans 'will start loving him'
Hardik Pandya may have been the target of fans' ire this IPL, but Kishan has little doubt that the Mumbai captain is “enjoying the challenge” of convincing fans.
Hardik, who replaced Rohit Sharma as captain before the start of this IPL, has been consistently booed by the fans and the situation was no different at Wankhede on Thursday night.
“he [Hardik] I love challenges and I have been in similar situations before and am still in that situation,” Kishan said. He's not the kind of guy who comes out and talks about it and says let's not do this or that. I know he must be enjoying it. I know him personally. I've spent a lot of time with him. He can't complain to the fans, they'll explain and come up with their point of view, so he's ready for the challenge. ”
Kishan said Hardik can change the anger of his fans with his performance.
“I know what Hardik Pandya thinks, so he is happy that people do it, but in the next match if he does it with the bat, people will start loving him. I know.” [again]. People also recognize your hard work, what you're going through, and still doing so well for the team.
“Our fans will be a little harsh on you, but at the same time when you do well or when you show it, [still] not to cause any trouble to you, [that] You're in a good headspace, that may change. If not today, tomorrow. Even if it's not tomorrow, it's the day after tomorrow. ”
