window report Guess what Microsoft is working on next based on a recently published patent (dated April 2, 2024) for “High Performance Speech Recognition AI Technology.”
Microsoft's new technology can recognize a wide variety of sounds, including, but not limited to, a doorbell, a crying baby, and a dog barking. It can also recognize unusual sounds such as coughing, difficulty breathing, and the sound of glass breaking. The most interesting thing is that it can recognize and monitor environmental sounds and further process them to inform the user if a natural disaster is about to occur…
The neural network generates scores and probabilities for each type of sound event in each segment. It's like guessing what type of sound each segment is and then guessing how sure you are of that guess. The system then performs post-processing to smooth the scores and probabilities and generates confidence values for each type of sound for different window sizes.
Ultimately, this technology will be able to be used for a variety of applications. Smart Home His devices can detect when someone enters your home by recognizing the sound of glass breaking, or if a newborn is hungry or in distress by recognizing the sound of a baby crying. You can do that. It can also be used in the medical field to accurately detect lung and heart diseases by recognizing heartbeat sounds, coughing, and breathing difficulties. However, one of its most important uses is to protect the public from future natural disasters by recognizing and detecting sounds associated with natural disasters.
