The recent Israeli attack on Rafah left at least six children dead and many more trapped under rubble, according to witnesses and media reports.
Israeli forces bombed residential buildings in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, killing at least 14 Palestinians and leaving many buried under rubble, according to witnesses and media reports.
Saturday evening's attack came hours after an Israeli drone strike on tents of Palestinian refugees in Rafah killed at least 11 people.
Witnesses said the latest attack in Rafah reduced a four-story building in the Al Salam district to rubble.
At least six children were killed and dozens more injured, Wafa news agency reported.
Rescue worker Ahmed Radwan said the affected buildings were inhabited by civilians, including those displaced by Israel's continued assault on Gaza.
“We managed to remove several bodies and rescue some injured people, but there are many more civilians. Women and children are still under the rubble,” he told Al Jazeera.
“Our resources are limited and in short supply. This war has entered its sixth month and we do not have the fuel to operate search and rescue equipment. Rescue women and children from under the rubble. “We need heavy machinery to do that, and unfortunately we don't have that capability,” he said.
“We have to use our hands and old, light tools to rescue the victims from under the rubble.”
Wafa also reported airstrikes on the southern city of Khan Yunis and attacks on Jabalia and Nuseyrat refugee camps in the northern and central Gaza Strip.
It said several people were killed and injured in Jabalia and Nuseyrat, but did not give an exact number of deaths.
The relentless assault on Gaza comes as Israeli forces also launched raids in the occupied West Bank, including the city of Tulkarem, the towns of Azun and Jayyous near the city of Qalqiliyah, and al-Aroub refugee camp north of the city of Hebron. It was conducted. .
Two men were questioned and one was briefly detained, Wafa reported.
Overall, at least 30,320 Palestinians have been killed and 71,533 injured since Israel began the war in Gaza on October 7. Israel's devastating offensive and blockade of Gaza has left much of the coastal enclave in ruins, with some 2.3 million people at risk of starvation. .
Israeli forces opened fire on hungry Palestinians as they tried to reach an aid convoy on Thursday, killing at least 118 people.
The attack sparked global outrage and led to the US airlifting food aid to Gaza. Jordanian troops also participated in the operation.
Meanwhile, global efforts to end the conflict continue, with a senior US official saying the framework is in place for a six-week cessation of fighting.
“The Israelis have more or less accepted it,” the official told reporters. “The responsibility now lies with Hamas, the armed group that rules Gaza.”
Reuters, citing two Egyptian security sources, said a delegation from Israel and Hamas was scheduled to arrive in Cairo for talks on Sunday.
