Jabulani Khumalo, founder of the embattled Mkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, was dealt a blow on Wednesday when the Electoral Tribunal rejected his bid to be reinstated as leader of the party.
The Specialist Court ruled electronically and dismissed his claim with punitive costs.

The court held, inter alia, that the motion was an abuse of the court's process and a drain on judicial economy and the opposing party's resources.
This comes after Khumalo, who registered the party, filed an urgent application with the Electoral Tribunal to void and set aside the Electoral Commission's record of former president Jacob Zuma as leader of MK.
Khumalo wanted the Specialised Court to order the IEC to record him as leader (president) of the party.
The party has performed impressively in the 2024 national and provincial elections, gaining a number of positions, including becoming the third largest party in the country, the number one party in KwaZulu-Natal and the official opposition party in Mpumalanga.
