Mother's Day is finally approaching. We are starting to see Mzansi celebrities showering their mothers with love.
Jo-Ann Strauss posted a sweet message to her mother on social media.
“As we celebrate Mother's Day, I would like to take this moment to honor our mother, our mother. My brother and I grew up under the wings of this magical woman. In every sense of the word. A true fighter. A maverick. She grew up in Ravensmead – 'n laaitie van die lane',” the former Miss SA rep wrote.
“She married my father at the young age of 21, probably because of my excitement to join this world so soon after we met, and the best love story was born in a hurry. However, she quickly became a mother and raised us with grace, love, and happiness. Heinrich and I always said that we had the greatest privilege growing up. It's the unconditional love of two beautiful people who love each other so much despite the obstacles they've been given.”
Jo Ann spoke about the tragedy her family had experienced and the impact it had on them.
“Yes, there have been tragedies too. Mother's dementia and the death of my brother over the past nine years have brought us to our knees. But we kneel and pray for strength and thank you for all the blessings. One of the greatest gifts of all is, of course, to call her my mother. Elizabeth Ingrid (Liz) Strauss (née Solomons). Ta.
