Britain's Josh Kerr has won the Millrose Games in New York, breaking Mo Farah's indoor 2-mile world record.
Kerr, the world 1500m gold medalist, ran a time of 8:00.67, beating Farah's 2015 record of 8:03.40.
“It's always going to be a really tough match, it was close,” said Kerr, 26.
Kerr's fellow Scot, Laura Muir, set a new British indoor record by winning the women's two-mile race, which saw Ethiopia's Medina Eissa disqualified.
Asa was the first to arrive home in New York, but cut in too early on the opening lap.
Muir, 30, finished in 9 minutes and 4.84 seconds, moving him from second to first place.
The Olympic 1500m silver medalist, who won the Wanamaker Mile at Millrose last year, will aim to win the world indoor title in Glasgow next month.
In the men's two-mile race, Kerr charged at the finish and beat Grant Fisher, who set the American national record with a time of 8:03.62.
Farah set the world indoor record nine years ago at the Birmingham Games.
“At the beginning of my career I had to go all out. I was pretty good, but not world class,” Kerr said.
“And to be world class and now be world champion…I'm enjoying it and I'm setting big goals to get myself out the door and prove I'm more than just talk. Masu.”
Devin Charlton of the Bahamas has set a new world record in the women's 60m hurdles.
Charlton clocked 7.67 seconds in the hurdles, shaving 0.01 seconds off the world record set by Sweden's Susanna Kallur 16 years ago.
