Kaizer Chiefs have announced that the jersey number assigned to defender Luke Fleur after his death has officially been retired.
Upon arriving at the Chiefs, Fleur has No.26 It was a jersey, but I couldn't wear it in an official game.
Fleur was yet to make his debut for Amakus, but sporting director Kaiser Motaung Jr. said the late-arriving defender was due to feature in last weekend's game against Chippa United.
The 24-year-old was shot and killed in Johannesburg, Florida, on April 3 during a suspected hijacking.

“In honor of Luke's life and accomplishments, the club has decided to retire the number 26 jersey number. No other player will ever wear that number again,” Kaiser Jr. said at Fleur's Stadium on Thursday. He spoke at the memorial service.
Amakhosi will permanently retire three uniform numbers.
The latest development means the Chiefs have retired three jersey numbers.
The first jersey number to be permanently retired was No.15 This is what Dr. Khumalo wore during his active days.
Chiefs retired in October 2021 No.20 This jersey pays homage to club legend Howard Freese, who left a mark on the club during his playing days.
Now, Fleur-san. No.26 A shirt has been added to the list as a sign of respect and remembrance by the Glamor Boys.
