The family of Senzo Meyiwa claim that they have not been able to see the deceased’s daughter, Thingo, for the past 10 years.
The late football star and Ms Kelly were in a romantic relationship before she was murdered and the couple had a baby girl together.
The family said they had only met Singo once, when her father took her to her grandparents' house in Umlazi, near Durban.
“The family was still hurting at the time. No wonder she couldn't take Singo to Senzo's funeral as the whole country was blaming her for his death,” the source revealed to Jimoja.
“It's been 10 years now and Senzo's mother Ntombi and sister Zama are desperate to have a relationship with her,” the source added.
“All they want is for them to spend time with Shingo and for her to get to know her siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles. It's not fair for the child to only hear about the Meyiwas in the media and not spend time with them.”
Jimoja said the family hopes to teach Tingo Meyiwa rituals as he grows up.
Senzo's sister, Zama Meyiwa, admitted the family had not been happy since they met the six-month-old girl.
“The whole family is unhappy that we cannot see our daughter. She is an important part of our family and is like a brother to us. We wish we could spend even an hour with her,” she said.
