Season 18 of Kumburuekaya premiered on Wednesday night with Samora Mangesi as the on-site reporter.
TV dramas return to the big screen Kumburuekaya Media personality Samora Mangesi will appear as the on-site reporter while Andile Gaeresiwe will continue to be the main host of the show.
“I am very happy to be back on TV after three years with a show that is so impactful and has such a great purpose,” Mangeshi said about her TV appearance.
“I would like to thank the team for almost 20 years of dedicated work and for the warm and welcoming welcome they gave me.”
Kumburuekaya It follows the journey of South Africans as they try to repair connections with lost and estranged family members.
Each episode will feature two stories that will bring tears and laughter as viewers reflect on family relationships and try to make positive changes in their own homes.
The show tackles socio-economic issues that lead to continued estrangement between families, including abuse, addiction, poverty and the breakdown of family structures.
Season 18 Kumburuekaya It debuted in its retained 9pm time slot on Wednesday nights.

Galesiwe was a field reporter last season. Kumbulkaya.
“As part of the new changes, I will now be able to travel with the crew, which is exciting as I love to travel. The show has always been director-driven. I travelled with the crew for two episodes in season one and although the channel loved it, the idea was not continued,” Galesiwe told media.
The kwaito musician was formerly of Moja Love Usando Noxolois similar to the SABC 1 show but focuses on forgiveness between victims and those who have wronged them in the past.
“The reason we are introducing this section is because people who write to us seeking help are often overwhelmed when it comes to being reunited with their lost relatives and are unable to ask the difficult questions of the people they are reuniting with.
“My role is to go in and ask those questions. I also want to make sure that the two people who are reuniting are on the same page and that their relationship is working. Earlier, we used to cover a lot of stories about black people, but now the channel is looking at other races too.”
This role will now be filled by Mangesi.
