Good Luck Band members Juliet Harding and Ben Peters welcomed their baby, Skylar Scout Lulu Peters, after an intense labor.
Good Luck Band members Juliet Harding and Ben Peters have welcomed a baby, Skylar Scout Lulu Peters.
Harding said her newborn daughter has already taught her a lesson or two in her short time on this earth.
Harding had been planning for a home birth for months, but her daughter apparently had other plans.
“The concept of a calm, fear-free, empowering birth led by a team of midwives was (and still is) the perfect idea of how I imagined giving birth,” the singer wrote in a heartfelt post announcing the birth of her daughter.
“Her birth story wasn't what we planned or expected, but it was what she needed… Skylar had been trying to tell us something all week and thankfully, we were listening,” she said.

Stressful work
Harding decided to give birth at home, despite facing criticism from those around her for her choice of location.
“Sometimes things don't go to plan and without the experience and wisdom of our midwives and birth team, our story may have been very different.”
The singer's labour began on Thursday afternoon and level 2 meconium was discovered when her water broke.
A midwife visited the home to examine Harding and, after consulting with the couple's gynaecologist over the phone, the decision was made to transfer Harding to hospital.
“In the days leading up to the birth, we were watching for a buildup of signs, from high blood sugar in the urine and blood to meconium and excess fluid around the baby.
“So when the little contractions started, they were really little contractions! Our baby was already so stressed out and his heart rate was dropping.”

Safe Landing
Despite her parents' crazy birth plan, Skylar Peters came into the world healthy and greeted by a special music playlist made specially for her by her dad.
“She was born healthy and safe, listening to a playlist of beautiful songs that Ben had created, and we've been in love with her ever since,” Harding said.
Lessons learned
Harding said the experience taught her the importance of listening.
“It’s about listening, feeling, tuning in, and ultimately trusting that inner voice and surrendering to what the process needs to be without getting in the way of your ego or the desire to execute an agenda.”
“It's no exaggeration to say that this control freak was brilliantly schooled by a newborn.”
