Hull City have accused head coach Liam Rosenior of racist abuse on social media and have reported it to Humberside Police.
The club said it was “disgusted” and would work with the relevant authorities to “identify those responsible”.
“Hull City does not tolerate discrimination in any form,” the club said in a statement.
“Our position is clear: racism has no place in football or in society.”
talk to BBC Radio Humberside Rosenior said Thursday that action needed to be taken.
“It's a really positive thing for kids to read about what I'm doing, but for it to be something that leaves a little bit of a bitter taste in my mouth,” he said.
“That’s why I’m not part of it.” [social media] But I know it affects my kids, it affects my family, it affects my players, so I need to do something. ”
He added: “People don't talk about whether I'm a good coach or not, whether my team is good or bad, that's football, that's normal, or whether I should get the job or quit. I can do it,” he added. Absolutely fine job.
“But when people write something about the color of my skin, because it's supposed to be a positive thing, I have to make a statement that it's unacceptable.”
The Tigers, led by Rosenior, have lost their momentum to advance to the playoffs after six consecutive games without a win, and are in 10th place in the championship with just six points left before the playoffs.
