Ireland's Leona Maguire will face world number one Nelly Korda in the final of the LPGA's T-Mobile Match Play event after both players reached the decider.
Korda, who is aiming for her fourth consecutive tournament title, defeated American compatriot Angel Yin 3&2 in the last eight, then defeated South Korea's Na Lin Ahn 4&3.
Maguire defeated Thailand's Moriya Jutanugarn 4&3 and South Korea's Kim Sei-young 3&2 in Saturday's match in Las Vegas.
“I love this golf course,” said the Irish woman at the Shadow Creek venue.
“I keep saying this is one of my favorites to play all year long.
“It's a challenge. Just accept it as it is, take every shot and just really try and execute.”
Maguire, who has shown a match play pedigree in Europe's last two Solheim Cup wins, revealed he met up with his European team-mates for dinner on the eve of this week's event in Las Vegas.
“It was great to catch up with everyone,” added the world No. 30.
“At the end of the day, I love match play. I love the competitive nature of the game.”
“Corda is the best in the world at the moment”
Korda entered this week's hybrid stroke play/match play tournament in great shape after recent wins at the Drive On Championship, Los Angeles Open and Arizona Championship.
But the 25-year-old American expects the toughest challenge from the highly competitive Irish woman.
“He's very consistent. He's a very tough competitor,” Korda said of Maguire.
“We certainly had a few races in the Solheim Cup, but I think it will be a tough battle tomorrow.”
Maguire said he had no doubt that Korda was “the best in the world at the moment”.
“I have a big challenge ahead of me and I'm excited,” she added.
“I mean, that's why you practice. You want to play with the best player in the world, and that's Nelly.”
Maguire has two LPGA wins to date, including his first win at the 2022 Drive On Championship and last season's Meyer Classic.
