Former African National Congress (ANC) vice-president David Mabuza has urged Gautengians to support the party's provincial chairman and prime ministerial candidate, Panyaza Lesufi, in his efforts to make Gauteng a safer and better province to work in. I called out.
Mabuza and other party veterans, including Thabo Mbeki, Galema Motlanthe and Tokyo Sexwale, are colluding to strengthen the ANC's electoral machinery.
This has raised concerns that the ANC's vote share in the May 29 vote could fall below 50% after 30 years in power. There is also speculation that both Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal could become hang provinces.
Mr Mabuza was speaking during an ANC election campaign in Johannesburg's Alexandra township on Thursday.
“The people of Gauteng support Comrade Panyaza. He seems to be very energetic and has a lot of ideas. He needs our support and I am one of those who will support his success. I'm here to support his call because I'm not just supporting him, I'm supporting our people. He's ready to deal with unemployment. I am willing to work with him because I am ready to deal with crime. I am not going to sit on the sidelines and be an armchair critic myself. I wanted to be involved and be counted among the people who wanted to make a difference.”
