Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema met with King Kgosi Kgabo Moloto III and traditional leaders in Moleti Mosyate, on the outskirts of Polokwane, Limpopo province.
This is part of the preparations for the EFF's Tsela Tupa rally. The party's final election rally will be held at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.
EFF leader Julius Malema began his campaign in Moretje with a meeting with traditional leaders. He called on them to support his party in the upcoming general elections.
Malema says the Moteche community has been ignored for too long.
“I tried to remind them of what they already knew: their suffering without water, electricity, flushing toilets, and decent roads; their children’s struggles in school; The government tried to remind them that they were actually locked in their homes with the community and promised they would be taken care of by the ANC government. So I appealed to the people that if they want real change they need to vote for the EFF, that Moreti is a neglected area and people only remember that at elections. ” says Malema.
Mr Malema also addressed party supporters at a local sports ground. He also mentioned clashes between the party and ANC supporters at the Juju Valley informal settlement in Seshego last week. An 8-year-old girl was hospitalized after being hit by a stray bullet.
“It was very wrong. I don't understand why the EFF responded to provocation because if I had been asked at that point I would have asked the anarchists to never be provoked. People thriving on chaos, shooting at people, all of it was horrifying. The Polokwane mayor must take full responsibility for his actions. He was in Juju Valley pulling out a gun and charging at people who were throwing stones,” Malema added.
Palestine
Malema also praised moves by Norway, Spain and Ireland to recognise Palestine as an independent state, which he believes will lead to the isolation of Israel.
“This is a very progressive move. If we take power, that's what we're going to do. We're going to fight for the Palestinian people. We're going to remove the Israeli embassy in South Africa because we can't share territory with madrassas. In fact, Parliament agrees with us on this point, more than a two-thirds majority in Parliament voted in favour of the decision to remove the Israeli embassy. So the EFF's victory will be dedicated to an oppressed Palestinian state,” Malema explains.
The EFF leader said the people of Moretsi have long been forgotten because they lack access to water and sanitation. He says community members need to use the power of voting to see change.
