Manchester United have announced that forward Marcus Rashford has “taken responsibility for his actions” following reports that he was spotted at a nightspot in Northern Ireland on Wednesday and Thursday night.
The England international missed United training on Friday after complaining of feeling unwell and did not feature in Sunday's FA Cup win over Newport.
United said in a statement: “This matter has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter and has now been closed.”
Rashford has returned to training.
The 26-year-old is expected to be selected in United's squad for Thursday's Premier League match against Wolves.
“He reported feeling unwell. The rest is an internal matter and I will deal with it,” manager Erik ten Hag said after Sunday's 4-2 win over Wales.
Rashford trained at Carrington that day.
Ten Hag, director of football John Murtagh and interim chief executive Patrick Stewart addressed the issue. Rashford was at United's training ground on Monday with his younger brother Dwayne, who is also a member of the national team.
This is not the first time Rashford has been in trouble with the club this season.
He was left out of the starting XI in the Carabao Cup fourth round defeat to Newcastle in November as a disciplinary measure.
At the time, ten Hag was unhappy that he was seen celebrating his birthday at one of Manchester's most exclusive nightspots just hours after the club's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City. Ta.
Rashford was substituted in the Premier League game against Wolves last season after oversleeping and being late for a team meeting. He then scored the winning goal after coming on from the bench.
The frontman has only scored four goals for United this season after hitting a career-best 30 goals last season.
Former Blackburn striker Chris Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club: “Rashford is not helping himself.
“I think he will outlive Ten Hag, but he can't stay like this. Something has to give. He showed that he has no respect for Ten Hag or his team-mates, which is scary. think.”
“Everyone knows where the line is. This isn't his first misdemeanor. Why does he keep poking Ten Hag like this?”
More to come.
